August was a busy month. We helped 25 kids this month and each one enjoyed their day and gave us plenty of smiles.
We’d like to thank the following volunteers for helping make this month’s birthday blessings a great one. It was because of you that these smiles happened.
Barb D, Sheila H, Kristi O, Kelly C, Emily A, Kelly B, Christie G, Janice W, Gretchen S, Julie H, Bethany H, Kim M, Tashina S, Ann H, Amy S, Jennifer S, Stephanie B, Jennifer M, Beverly G, Annette C, Darcy B, Ashli M, Pam C, Shauna P, and Dorothy L.
This month we would like to spotlight one of our volunteers, who not only is an active participant with Birthday Blessings, but also is a principal at one of schools we serve. Meet Kim!!
My name is Kim Mitchell and I am the principal at Bonner Springs Elementary. I became aware of Birthday Blessings when flyers were delivered to our school. At the time, I thought it was a wonderful program that would be such a blessing to our families and I was amazed that two busy moms not only designed it but were implementing it. I didn’t consider being involved and went on with my busy life. In July 2012 my grandson was born prematurely and only lived for a short amount of time. He brought our family so much joy in his precious 18 minutes of life and left such an impact on my heart. I was determined that I would slow down and take time to bring joy to others, and Birthday Blessings has allowed me to do that. Purchasing gifts, balloons, and baking birthday treats has truly helped to heal my heart and celebrate our sweet baby Hunter John Crary by helping have a special birthday. As a school administrator, I am thrilled that all of our little ones can now celebrate their special day with the support of Birthday Blessings.
Thank you so much for being a part of Birthday Blessings. You are a wonderful group of volunteers and we appreciate all of you!
September promises to be a huge month and one that will be a record breaker!!
